It's Here, It's Here

Summertime is here!

Time to relax!

Time to read!

Time to go to the river!

Time to enjoy!

Time to do stuff I've been putting off!

Time to do nothing at all!

At least for a few weeks. Then, for me, it all starts up again because I'm taking a few classes this summer.

I
Made

Semester!

And it feels good! Better news- Matt made it through this semester. Now that feels good!

Movies This Summer

There are some BIG movies coming out this summer and I want to see them.

Will be there to watch:

1. Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End- Who wouldn't want to see this movie? We have Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp. But honestly the first two movies were GREAT!

2. Ocean's 13- I really liked the first two movies in this series. I like the movies that keep you guessing and you have to figure out how they did that.

3. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix- Hello!?! Harry Potter!! I have a feeling I might be at the midnight showing of this movie.

Maybes:

4. Nancy Drew- I saw on a list that there was a Nancy Drew movie coming out. I tried to click on it to see what it was about, but another movie popped up. I have no idea if it is based on the books or not.

5. Shrek 3- I saw the first Shrek and did not like it at all. I did not watch the second movie, but the commercials I have seen for this one look ok. We'll see...

6. Spider Man 3- I saw the second Spider Man movie, but have not watched the first one the whole way through. It looks ok, but we'll see...

There are also a couple of books I want to read. Well let me rephrase that... I want to read a couple of books. I might just go to the library and just start checking them out. Right now my dream is to get a good book, hop in the boat, and read while floating down Current River. Ahhhhh....sounds good! We also need to add in some Oreo cookies and Mountain Dew into that dream.

TGIF

I know I post alot about my school and classes. Even though this post is about school, it is something a little different. In just two and a half weeks I will be a senior in college. I will be entering my last year of classes and this time next May I will be gearing up to accept my diploma from SEMO. Wow... All of this hard work, headaches, and gripping. I am finally about to make it. So excited. Very excited.

I am very glad it is Friday. This week has been tough, really really tough. I have been trying to catch up on assignments and stay caught up. You know, that is a very hard task. For everyone out there who is in school- Don't Get Behind on Homework! Don't be a Procrastinator! If you do it when it is assigned, you will be much better off in the long run. I promise. I am speaking from very very much experience.

I hope some of you enjoyed my 90's thing. I have a couple more about being from Missouri and from a small town. They are really really funny because it is all so true.

Have a good weekend! I will be working on homework and helping with the softball tournament tomorrow! Hopefully it won't rain too much.

I'm A 90s Child Yo

This is for all you cool cats who lived through the 90s and remember most of this stuff! Hopefully it will make you giggle.
You're a 90's kid if:
You can sing the rap to "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air"
You remember when Kurt Cobain, Tu Pac, River Phoenix, and Selena died.
You remember when it was actually worth getting up earlyon a Saturday to watch cartoons.
You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school.
You remember the craze, then the banning of slap bracelets and slam books. You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence...Not...
Where in the world is Carmen San Diego? was both a game and a TV game show.
Captain Planet.
You remember when super nintendo's became popular.
I've fallen and I can't get up"
You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates
Two words... Trapper Keeper.
You wore socks over leggings scrunched down"
You knew all the characters names and their life stories on "Saved By The Bell"
You played and/or collected "Pogs"
You had at least one Tamagotchi, GigaPet or Nano and brought it everywhere
You watched the original Care Bears, My Little Pony, and Ninja Turtles
NANCY DREW AND THE HARDY BOYS WERE THE BEST MYSTERY BOOKS
Yikes pencils and erasers were the stuff!
All your school supplies were "Lisa Frank" brand.(pencils.notebooks.binders.etc.)
You remember when the new Beanie Babies were always sold out.
You used to wear those stick on earings, not only on your ears, but at the corners of your eyes.
You've gotten creeped out by "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"
You know the Macarena by heart.

When we were younger:
Before the MySpace frenzy...
Before the Internet & text messaging...
Before Sidekicks & iPods...
Before PlayStation2 or X-BOX......
Back when you put off the 5 hours of homework you had every night.
When light up sneakers were cool.
When you rented VHS tapes, not DVDs.
When gas was $0.95 a gallon & Caller ID was a new thing.
When we recorded stuff on VCRs & paid $3.50 for a movie.
When we called the radio station to request songs to hear off our walkmans.
When 2Pac and Biggie where alive.
When the Chicago Bulls were the best team ever.

Way back.
Tag.Get Over Here!!!! means something to you.
Hide-n-Go Seek at dusk.Red Light, Green Light.Heads Up 7 Up.Playing Kickball & Dodgeball until your porch light came on.Hopskotch.Slip-n-Slides.Tree Houses.Hula Hoops.
HELLO....HOT WHEELS!!!!!
"POWER OF LOVE" BY CELINE DION..ONLY COUPLES COULD SKATE TO THIS.
The annoying Giga Pets & Furbies.
Running through the sprinklers.
That "Little Mermaid"
Crying when Mufasa died in the Lion King.
Happy Meals where you chose a Barbie or a Hot Wheels car.
Getting the privelage to sit in the front seat of the car.

Or what about:
Hey Arnold.
Rugrats.
The Secret World of Alex Mac.
Ren & Stimpy.Double Dare.
Rocco's Modern Life.
AAAHH!! REAL MONSTERS.
Wild & Crazy Kids.
Clarissa Explains it All.
CAMP NOWHERE
Salute Your Shorts(CAMP ANAWANA)
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
The original cast members of All That.Kenan & Kel.
Doug.
Magic School Bus.
Legends of the Hidden Temple.
Dinosaurs.
Alladin.
Blossom.
Hangin with Mr. Cooper.
MR RODGERS!!!!
Wearing your new shoes on the first day of school.
Class field trips.
When $5 seemed like a million, & another dollar a miracle.
When you begged to go to McDonalds for dinner everyday.
When Toys R Us overuled the mall.

Go back to the time when:
Decisions were made by going 'eeny-meeny-miney-moe'.
Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming 'do over!
''Race issue' ment arguing about who ran the fastest.
Money issues were handled by whoever was banker in 'Monopoly.
'It wasn't odd to have two or three 'best' friends.
Being old referred to anyone over 20.
A chance to skate as a couple at the local roller rink was like winning the lottery.
Scrapes & bruises were kissed & made better.
It was a big deal to finally be tall enought to ride the 'big people' rides at the fair.
When playing Nintendo was the hardest thing ever.
When Ninja Turtles ruled the world.
Another Baby Sitter Club and Little Sister (Karen) book came out and you put your name on hold for it at the library.
When Aladdin was new, before the trilogy was complete.

Before we realized all this would eventually disappearWho would have thought you'd miss the 90's so much!!!!!

I hope you had time to read through these because if you are anything like me, you remember 99% of them!

I Don't Know what to Title This

It has been awhile since my last blog, but honestly I can't think of anything that has happened in my life. Well there has been school, but school is blah blah and it already stressses me out enough. Oh I have thought of something. Saturday night we had our meeting to plan the Springtime in Paris Gala. Going into the meeting I still was not for sure what my role would be, but I knew I wanted to be involved because Ruth asked us to. I am now sure what I am doing and that part is a secret. This gala is for all the women at our church, but mostly for the older women who don't come to the JOY meetings. I think they used to do this for them but haven't in awhile, so this gala will allow them to come out and get a really really nice lunch and some funny entertainment. I am really looking forward to it because it is something different for us to do and by that time I will need some entertainment besides an Educational Psychology book.

I Can Show You with One Hand

What can I show you with one hand? How many weeks we have left of school! I have officially made a list of what I need to do before the end. This list is allowed to be modified, because I had to add more during class tonight. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to mark off items on my list. Since we have SO MUCH stuff due before the end of the semester, this list allows myself to try and stay organized. I also have to add Matt into this organizational list. He is really lost and we have to try and keep him caught up. Well, we need to catch him up first, then keep him caught up.

I enjoyed my Easter break very much. Friday night consisted of dying Easter eggs, spending time with Alicia, Garrett, and new friends met at the Thornton house, and spilling Mountain Dew on my pants. Saturday consisted of cleaning room and going back to Thornton house to watch the Passion of Christ. Sunday was Easter! I went to church, went to eat lunch at Grandma/Grandpa Thornton house, hunted Easter eggs, and then went home to take a nap. I tried to do homework, but I couldn't make myself. I have been getting homework done this evening while sitting in class. hehehehehe! :) Maybe that's why I'm so lost and I'm not for sure what's due next and when.

More Powerful Words

I am going to add onto Steve's post. I just read three very very powerful words that can put a smile on almost anyone's face.

CLASS IS CANCELLED!

I love it! My classes tonight are cancelled and I had a very big grin when I called Matt to tell him the news.

That's all. 3-2-1 Blast Off!

ABC Family...whatever

I have noticed recently how ABC Family is not really centered around the family. I have thought this for awhile, but last night I was watching a movie on there and was very disappointed. Not only are their movies awful, but their original TV shows are too. The ones they create are full of stuff I would NOT want my children to watch. I remember a time when TGIF on ABC had shows like "The Dinosaurs" and "Family Matters." I don't think they have TGIF anymore, but I wonder what shows would be playing if they did.

That's all I have to say about that.

Now onto more important things. Yesterday I taught my first lesson. I was in charge of twenty three 8th graders. When I started off the lesson, I told them we were going to play a game. One of the girls in the class said "We like her already!" I liked hearing that. At the end, my cooperating teacher said I did a very very good job. She was impressed with all the stuff I had for them, which included a game, partner activity, explanations of certain things, and a worksheet. It was a lot to cover, but I tend to go through things really fast. For a couple of years, I was a group leader at the church camp I went to and everytime I had to do the Bible study, I would run through stuff really quick. I don't mean to. I guess I get excited about everything and want to get through it and not run out of time.

I didn't realize this, but Sunday is April Fool's. I'm trying to think of some good things to pull that day.

Help Me

This is a desperate plea. If you were to ever post a comment on a post, this would be it. I need help.

In one of my classes, we're supposed to do this writing assignment. She emailed some of us the start of a story, gave us so many words we HAVE to use, and then we send it off to someone else and they add on. Well, my story is about Rowdy Red Hawk ( I guess that's SEMO' s mascot) and him having some fun. I have added a bunch and used most of my words, but there are some words that I have no idea what they mean and the dictionaries on the computer are not helping. So maybe you can help. What in the world does concept development mean? How would you put that in a sentence? I have an idea, but I don't want to put it wrong in the story. We are reading them in class and I don't want everyone to think I have no idea what something means. We have to fake them out and let them think I know what I'm talking about.

Also, what is the difference between affective and effective? Once you answer that question, how would you put affective into a sentence? I think the way I want to put the sentence, it should be effective. I don't know...I have no clue.

I also just realized that maybe I should know the mascot to the school I'm going to. I'm as bad as Bill. He didn't know which buildings were which when he was giving a tour, but I have only been to the SEMO campus once and that was a long long time ago.

Tomorrow... I teach a group of 8th graders.
Today.... I'm a little scared.

I am also ready to do it. I am very prepared and I have alot to cover. That means if I rush through some of the stuff and get them finished quicker than what I want, I have extra stuff to pull out if I need to. I was going to post a picture of my bulletin board I had to put together, but there are different reasons that have hindered my picture posting:
1. I don't know how
2. The computer that I am at doesn't allow me to take pictures off of my camera and put them on the computer.

Oh yes, most of my story revolves around Rowdy Red Hawk meeting some of the Disney characters. I know the rest of my group will appreciate that. Matt is in my group (insert evil laugh here). Oh the fun of it all!

Welcome Spring

We are four days into Spring and I am still feeling the wrath of allergies. It all started last Friday, and then it didn't help that it SNOWED on Saturday. I was up in St. Louis, eating lunch, and I look out the window and see huge flakes falling to the ground. What a wonderful way to start Spring Break. I should have known right then that I was going to get sick. How many Spring Break's start with a snowfall? At least I wasn't with Matt, Gary, and Michael. They were camping in the woods when the snow started to fall on them. I fought off the sickness until Wednesday, then I had to go home from work. The weather has been beautiful, but I have been stuck in my bed-sniffling, coughing, sneezing, and anything else you get during allergy season. But today, I have been out and about, enjoying this beautiful weather! I'm so happy it's not snowing today.

I am very thankful for this Spring Break. I have had alot of homework to finish, but at least I haven't had to go to Poplar Bluff. Plus, this means we are on the downhill strech to the end.

Nothing really intersting has happened this week, but like I said, most of the week I have been stuck at home. At least I did not have a big black snake in my room like a good friend of mine. SCARY!

Our Limerick

Tonight in class, she asked us to break into groups and make up limericks. I wanted to share the one my group made:

We started block 2 on a roll,
But it seems like we're digging a hole
This semester's a bummer
We're ready for summer

Without Him I Could Do Nothing

Yesterday, in church, we had some extra mintues while waiting for the projector to come on. Ruth asked us to stand and say how great God is to you (or something along those lines). Being the public speaker I am (note sarcastic tone in writing) I popped up. I do not normally do something like that because I get all flustered and who knows what comes flying out of my mouth. I said I would like to thank God for my Spring Break coming up next week. I should have added more to that, but I forgot because I am not very comfortable standing up in front of everyone.

Anyways, onto the point of this post. I also wanted to add that I'm glad I have a God that realizes we all need a break. Whether it be from classes or work. I know he would not put something on my plate He feels I could not handle. Even though this semester has had more downs than ups, I am thankful I have had the opportunity to get to know my fellow classmates and be one step closer to graduating. Without Him I could not do this.

Today at work I looked at my little Doniphan Police Departement calander and counted up how many more weeks I have left this semester. Only 8 for SEMO and 9 for TRCC. The wonderful, fabulous, great thing about that is-all my classes are one night a week. That means I only have 8 more classes. I like looking at it that way.

I also wanted to add the weather is beautiful here in parly sunny/partly cloudy Doniphan. According to weather.com, the high today is supposed to reach 74 degrees. Billy was asking me yesterday what Matt is doing this week because he wants to get his boat on the river. I love it! This weather is just great and I cannot wait until until next week when I can go really go out and enjoy it. I'm going to try and talk Matt into going on a 4-wheeler ride or something along those lines.

Have a great Monday! 3-2-1 Blast Off!

Graduation

It is so weird to see this group of seniors graduate from school this year. Not only does this class include such fine individuals as my sister and Matt's brother, but also kids I have known for years and years. This is also the group of students that were freshmen when I was a senior. It is hard to believe three years has flown by so quickly.

Before we know it, I will be accepting my diploma for four hard years at the college level. Yesterday Matt and I went to talk with our college advisor for SEMO. This meeting was for our fall classes and what we will be enrolling in. One of the lines she said that stuck in my mind the most was "Laura, after this fall, you will be finished with regular classroom classes." I was so excited to hear those words! Next spring, all I will have to worry about is student teaching. I won't have to go to a class, worry about homework, or take any tests. She was also telling us about some other things we will need to take care of in order to graduate. We have to take a few tests in the fall, go to an orientation for student teaching, and then we will be applying for our diploma. I will have a busy summer full of classes, but it will be worth it next spring.

Even though this is a few months early, I would like to say congratulations to Jenn (sister), Michael (Matt's brother), Jenn Hop (a wonderful senior I have gotten to know over the past few years), and all those other rugrats who are ready to accept their diplomas from high school.

Graduation...what a great word.

It's a Sunshine Day...

Today I started out in a sweater and a button up shirt underneath. I was comfortable, but luckily it was not needed later in the day. When I left work this afternoon, I was able to change into a tee shirt! I love this weather! The other day, Matt and I were talking about our favorite seasons. Mine is spring and fall. Why? Well Spring is right after Winter (duh, you say). Even though Winter consists of Christmas, by the time March rolls around I am ready for the flowers to bloom and to bust out the short sleeve shirts. Fall is the same way. By the time summer is over with, I am ready for the temperatures to cool down.

Last night I was also realizing just how quickly this semseter is going. Even though I have been complaining about the homework, the time is passing by. Soon Matt and I will be putting his new boat (old one caught on fire) in the river. I have classes this summer, but I am also ready to enjoy Current River with my boyfriend and other river rats.

I am very thankful for the good time we had this weekend. I enjoyed Saturday so much! Even though my team did not win (Thanks Laurie) I had a wonderful time. Things went so smoothly this year. I know God is going to bless the Mission Team when they head back to Mexico. The softball tournament that takes place in a few weeks will be successful and full of good times. I will not be playing in the tournament, but I will be there to support my friends.

This blog did not have one main point, just lots of things that have passed through my head over the past few minutes. 3-2-1 Blast Off!

Ready for Tomorrow!

I am really excited about tomorrow. Even though we just finished playing the church league season, I am ready for the tournament. This is the one good thing I have been looking forward to this week! With everything else going on, I'm ready to just play for the day.

Homework Status Report: Matt and I have worked almost every night this week. Minus last night because of American Idol results. :) Homework cannot come before American Idol results show. Anyways, tonight will be study guide finishing and test taking. We are slowly making our way through this mountain of things to do, but the light at the end of the tunnel is getting closer. I would like to take this time to thank those of you who have remembered us. I would also like to say I am remembering those of you who are in the same boat. I would also like to say that even though I have lots of homework, you do not have to worry that I will make a bomb threat on SEMO.

Brain Teaser time:
You are stuck in the room with some really short leprechauns. They are really loud and annoying! Bob is 2'5", Barry is 2'2", Brad is 2'5", and Bryan is 2'1", and Brittany is 2'1". Who is the tallest?

I'm in a zoo
But not in a jungle
I rairly come in pairs
But I'm in every puzzle
Some think I'm in xylophone
But, I most certainly am not
You don't see me with a loan
But very strangely within a zealot
I'm in the magical prison of Azkaban
Well, can't you see?
I'm in the buzz of a fan
But, my oh my, what could I be?

Good luck! I will see most of you tomorrow! 3-2-1 Blast Off!

Goal for this Week

On Sunday, I mentioned that I needed prayer because of my homework situation. I have fallen behind with homework in some classes and it has been hard catching up. Well, Monday evening I got all my homework done and my test finished for the class I have been most worried about. Now, my goal this week is to get everything else caught up. I have made a To-Do list for the next few days and they are filled. We were going to try to go to the district games on Friday, but unless we start wizzing through everything, I don't see that happening. I told Matt we are going to become hermits and sit home Friday night and get this stuff done. Add in tonight and some of tomorrow night, and hopefully we will be caught up enough that I am satisfied. We have the volleyball tournament on Saturday, and I don't want to be doing homework in between games. So, on Sunday, hopefully I will be able to say "I am good!" (and not stressed)

VERY Proud

I forgot to post this earlier, but I just wanted to say how VERY proud I am of Matthew. Yesterday, in church, he got up and said a few words of inspiration. Now, for those of us who are around him a lot, he likes to say his two cents (even though he thinks they are worth far more :)) all the time. He is usually talking in front of a couple of people and they are his family and close friends. This all changed yesterday when he got up in front of the church to talk. When he started to get this message together, he started to get nervous. We were on the phone late Saturday night and I do believe he went over what he was going to say five times before we got off the phone. I didn't mind. I knew he was nervous and needed to practice. That night, and on the way to church, I made sure to say a special prayer for him because I knew he was very nervous. I think he did a wonderful job and I told him I could not tell he was nervous. He said it was a good thing the pulpit was there because his legs were shaking really hard. I'm glad he got up in front of the church, because like we learned in the movie Friday night, we need to all face our giants. I'm glad Matt stepped out and did something he does not normally do. I just hope when my time comes around I can at least try to do the same good job and represent the class well.

You guys are correct with your brain teaser answers! You each get five gold stars! I have more questions, but want to save them for later dates.

Brain Teasers

Just a few questions I wanted to ask you:

I will help you with your writing,
Probably through me you will see,
But if you want to ship me,
You'll put me right inside of me.
I wear many different hats you know,
In construction plus I'm tracing,
I also do work for the board,
Lots of kids use me for a racing.
You can fold me, tear me,
Rip me without using all your might,
But be careful how you touch me,
I may give you my famous bite.
What am I?

What number, when spelled out, has no repeated letters and has each of the vowels (not including Y) once?

I Impressed Myself

"What's oleo?" She asked the boys putting up the stock.

"Oleo?" They replied. "I've never heard of it. Have you ever heard of this?" They turned and asked some of the other boys crowding around.

"Nope. Why don't you ask Millard? I bet he would know."

Off the cute little couple goes down the aisle.

"Do you know where the oleo is?" She asked the older gentleman putting up the stock.

"Why yes. It's on the back wall."

"By the milk?"

"Well a little further down. It's right before the eggs."

So off the cute little couple goes again. She, totally confused with this oleo business. Him, wondering if he is right about this oleo business (which he was, but he didn't tell her what it was until they found it).

"This is butter and margerine." She tells him when they get back there. "I've looked here and I have found no oleo."

They continue looking until Millard joins them again with a big smile on his face. "Oleo is margerine." He explains. "You must have an old recipe because that's what they called it in the old days."

"Aaaahhhh..." was her reply. "I thought that's what it was." was his reply.

So the cute little couple found their oleo, checked out with the groceries, and headed home to cook supper.
The End

I am officially a master in the kitchen! Well maybe not, but I can say that I finally cooked something that was not Mac and Cheese, Hamburger Helper, or chicken nuggets (those are my other famous dishes). I cooked Italian Crescent Casserole. I had never heard of it. But, the meal was about what Matt wanted and this is what he wanted cooked. There were times when he tried to join me and give me pointers, but I booted him out and said I'm going to do it. As I was cooking, I was a little apprehensive about what was coming together. It turned out great!! Next time, I'm going to change just a couple of things, but other than that the meal was great. Add some chocolate chip cookies, and we just pigged out.

If you want the recipe, it is in the old church cookbook or you can ask me.

I'm Sorry...

It's been a long time, and I'm sorry. I have been so busy these past couple weeks, and when I'm not busy, I don't remember to post anything. Do you remember that post about a month ago that talked about Valentine's Day? Well it's tomorrow and I'm not ANY further along. I do know what I'm going to make Matt, even though I don't remember what it's called.

We have had so much stuff piled on us for homework. Last night we were sitting in class and she asked us if we had an assignment almost finished. I hadn't even started!! I don't think anyone else had either. So I didn't feel that bad... But, everytime I turn around, there's more homework and assignments for us! It's getting kinda bad. I don't think it is as bad as Katy Jane's homework problem though.

I have also realized after bending down and trying to get through the cold wind, I am ready for Spring to come. More importantly, SPRING BREAK!!

What is that white stuff?

It is snow! It is snow! They have called, and called, and called for us to get snow- and it has arrived!! Not only has it arrived, it is sticking to the ground. I'm at work right now and our parking lot is covered already. Maybe, just maybe, I won't have to go to class tomorrow night. Hopefully, maybe.

If I do have to go to school tomorrow I will be signing up for summer classes. Sigh, already. By the time I get through this semester, I'll have to do it again. During the summer, the classes are longer but the semester is shorter. I'm looking forward to the second part. I want to be finished as quickly as I can.

I read Hattie's blog the other day and I love how she ends some of her posts, so I'm going to do the same thing. I don't know if it's exactly the same thing, but this is my version.

On My Nerves...

One of my biggest pet peeves is... when a teacher says they are going to let you out early and they don't! Tonight, our teacher came in and said she didn't feel good and she would let us out early. Well, that is false and we even stayed later than what we should. Ggggrrrr...

Anyways, I saw on another post where someone wrote seven weird things about themselves. So I am going to write seven weird things about me:

7) I just tried pickles for the first time a few months ago
6) I have never tried an onion, but I love the smell of them
5) If you haven't already noticed, I am a picky eater
4) I'm from Arkansas (haha)
3) Alot of people want to get away from my hometown (in MO), but I want to raise my family
here
2) I want to be a teacher (in a few years I will probably wonder what I was thinking)
1) Matthew Ryan is my favorite person :) :) :)

Have a great day!

Two weeks down, only 13 more to go at SEMO (14 at TRCC)! YES!! I just wanted to write and say I am very happy it is Friday. Why? Because it starts the weekend. A time where you really don't have to do much- unless you have homework. A time where you can relax- unless you have homework. A time where you can take naps and sleep in- unless you have lots of homework. It's not that I have alot of homework to get done this weekend, but I have enough to take up some of my precious time. Most of my teachers have assigned us to read chapter one in our books. I'm not quite for sure if I'm going to do that or not. When they make you read, it is so boring and you don't want to do it. I love reading for fun. When I can find some spare time, I love to sit down and curl up with a good book. That doesn't happen very often when I'm in school.

In other news- I'm getting my hair cut today (I know, you're all excited). Nothing drastic, but I change my mind all the time on if I want to keep it long or cut it all off. Everytime I go in, Chrissy always asks me if we're going to chop my hair. She's just used to me changing my mind.

That's all for today. Have a good weekend!

Tinkle on a Bell

Let me explain our block classes-
Monday night we begin at 4:00 and end at 9:00, Tuesday night we start at 6:30 and end at 8:20, and Wednesday we start at 5:00 and end at 7:00. In each class, we have the same group of people. These people will be in almost every one of our block educational classes until we graduate. It is a good thing they are entertaining because I would not be able to stay awake in my classes without them. Our teacher is not at our site, and the only time they hear us is if we turn on the microphones. The wonderful thing about that is, we can talk, talk, talk and they won't hear a thing.

Where did the post title come from? Well, we were in class and our teacher was talking about our breaks during the class period. Since we have such long classes, they usually give us a 15 minute break. This teacher told us that we won't give us a break, but if we needed to go to the bathroom, to just leave. She continued to say that teachers are the only professionals that learn to tinkle on a bell.

Just some stuff to look forward to when I enter the teaching profession.

Valentine's Day

I know boys, you feel this is really early, but the day is coming. It's actually less than a month away, so you need to get to thinking about what you are going to get your love interest. Last week I brought up the topic with Matt. I asked him what were were going to get each other. I see Valentine's Day as a holiday you can use your imagination on. I try not to get stuff that you would receive on your birthday or any other holiday (even though last year I failed miserably). Anyways, Matt had no idea what we were going to do. More than likely he hasn't really thought about it, but that's ok because he's a guy and most guys wait until the last second. That is when I came up with the brilliant plan that we would make something for each other. I'm kind of crafty, but that includes scrapbooking, not making a gift for my significant other.

What's that old saying- the way to get to a man's heart is through his stomach? So I am going to make something for Matt, and it is going to be something to eat. He already knows about this because I asked him what he would like to eat. Now, for those of you who know me (and those who really don't) I do NOT cook. I love making Hamburger Helper or other easy dishes, but nothing too hard or will take forever to make. Well in a few weeks I am going to branch out and try something new. I'm sorry to say that I won't do this for just anybody, but Matt is pretty special to me and I'm going to dazzle him with my hidden cooking talent.

So for the past few days I've been looking for a special recipe I can make. I've looked through some cooking books and I came across this little recipe I think all could enjoy:

Recipe for a Happy Day
1 cup of Friendly Words
2 heaping cups of Understanding
4 heaping teaspoons of Time and Patience
Pinch of Warm Personality
Dash of Humor

Instructions for mixing: measure words carefully. Add heaping cups of understanding. Use generous amounts of time and patience. Cook on the front burner, but keep the temperature low; do not boil. Add a generous dash of humor and a pinch of warm personality. Season to taste with spice of life. Serve in individual molds.

I really liked this recipe. Sometimes we forget to measure our words carefully, understand things that happen to us, forget to be patient, and we tend to boil over.

Oh yes, class last night was really good. I do believe I'm going to like that teacher. If the rest are like her, I feel this is going to be a very enjoyable semester, well as enjoyable as a semester could be.

Why?

Now when you read the title of this post, you have to stare up at the ceiling, with your fists in the air, and cry out in a very whiny voice- WHY?!?

Why? you may ask. Because this question is commented for the fact that I am starting another semester of school today. It was such a wonderful break that I wanted to last forever. But, alas it could not. One good thing comes from today- because I am starting another semester, it means that it will be over and I will only have two left. If I keep that outlook on it all, before I know it I will have no semesters left and I will be accepting my diploma for all of my hard work.

Oh hey, I have thought of a second good thing about this semester. We are actually starting educational blocks through SEMO. I guess these classes will teach us how to teach, or try to teach us how to teach. I am kind of nervous going into these next few semesters. All of the other educational classes we've been in just required us to observe a class. Now, we will actually be teaching the future of this country. I do think that both Matt and I will make it. We have a guy that has been in some of our classes that is our inspiration. We have told each other that if he can make it, we can make it.

I do have a few goals for this semester:
a) to make it to May with a smile on my face!
b) to pass every class (we both have a big load) with a really really good grade
c) to try and enjoy it- even though I don't like school, it only comes around once

So, as I am joining the millions of other college students around the country, I just hope I don't stress out and I don't kill Matt (he tends to complain).

What's in a name? and a picture?

When I began thinking about starting a blog (and joining the elite group of individuals who are already blogging) I could not think of a name! For the past few days I have thought and thought. So today I was sitting here and asked Jackie and Matt for some help. Finally, Jackie thought of Laugh alot with Laura and then Matt suggested along. Well now I have changed it again, but I hope you like it. Like my heading says (hopefully it says this because I'm not for sure if it's up there) I hope you enjoy reading stories about my life and what goes on everyday. So ta-da, here I am to blog and put my thoughts to print on the Internet. I have so much knowledge in my head to add and share to the world. I also hope you enjoy my profile picture, courtesy of Matthew Ryan himself. That is probably the only thing he will contribute to this blog, unless he surprises me and decides to write something down.
